Bolton Becomes Boxing Centre Thanks To Amir Khan
Thanks to the success of Bolton’s Amir Khan, the Northern English town has become a center for Boxing, with the sports popularity skyrockting there.
Amir Khan’s success first at the 2004 Olympics and his subsequent fame and wins after he turned professional have led to a marked rise in the numbers of young people especially from the British Pakistani community and it has also led to professional and amateur boxers from all over the UK, move to the city and base them themselves in Bolton.

The city is currently home to over eight Boxing gyms, a figure unmatched throughout the UK. The new popularity of the sport in Bolton is a marked contrast to the 1970′s and 1980′s when aspiring boxers from Bolton had to travel to Manchester and Leeds to conduct their training.
